Though we have entered an era of woman empowerment, we still see women facing multiple issues just because she is born is a specific gender. Women abuse, assault, rape, murder, and many more such dark subjects and atrocities are faced by women in every aspect of her life. From the nascent age to being mature enough to understand these abuses, she stays strong. Here is a poem depicting her struggles and the darkness she faces. Do give it a read.
The screams are heard, in the air
People gathered in the little house from everywhere,
Suddenly it all went silent, and a baby cries
She is a girl, the lady said, and the mom is left surprised
Not every village cries with the pain
Somewhere, they celebrate as if they gain
They planted 111 trees in the mud
And dolled up the girl with the best they could
If the girl wasn't born where they treat her like a god
She was unfortunate, looked at as if she was a fraud
They dug the same mud where the trees grow
They picked her up, and off they throw
Took away her life just because a girl she was born
And in the moments she was gone
She struggled and tried to live a little longer
But was it for her good or a blunder?
She wore a little skirt and a backpack
Went to school and nothing she lacked
Last was she to get down the school bus
Little did she know, the driver's chocolate is his access
He made her sit on his lap
And her innocence is stolen with just a snap
Took away her aspirations just because a girl she was born
And in the moments she was gone
She made it to her adolescence
But, is it really a blessing?
She was beautiful and smart
That is why she stands apart
The boy in her lane liked her a lot
No wonder why, because the beauty she got
She had her dreams to fulfill
And declined the love that she could not feel
The boy was furious about what she did
Showered his love with a bottle of acid
Took away her opinion just because a girl she was born
And in the moments she was gone
She made it somehow to be a woman
Now, will her problems be none?
She studied hard and became what she wants
She was successful as her only wish grants
She wanted to marry and found a man of her dreams
He wasn't it, and everything went downstream
He craved, only for the dowry he craved
Tortured her and kept her as his slave
She tried to break free and tried to strive
The news came that she was burnt alive
Took away her hopes just because a girl she was born
And in the moments she was gone
This is a world, a woman lives in
The shades of darkness that seeps in
She struggles to breathe as a child
And then she struggles to stay alive
She fights to keep hands off her
Rape, assault, the abuse she doesn't want to suffer
She rises and makes herself strong
Just so that nothing goes wrong
But, somewhere she meets all of the above
And she only wants to get through it, but how?
Somewhere she loses her opinions, aspirations, hopes, and her life
She never gives up and put efforts to stay alive
They took away her everything just because a girl she was born
And in the moments she was gone
